What defines resistance ? Is it always in reaction to events or ideas? Is it always in opposition? What are the expressions of resistance in daily life or under extreme circumstances? How do artists transform these ideas into visual, concrete form?
Our artists have chosen to depict their reaction to the term RESISTANCE in their own distinct voices – some in art that makes references to protest posters, others through satire and exaggeration, personal struggles and history, drawing parallels to our past. Others use Jewish sources – the Torah, the holiday of Chanukah – to gain strength and find inspiration, all in the name of working in opposition to something; an injustice that has worked its way into their hearts and minds.
