A collaboration between Yiddish New York and The Clemente
Curated by Tine Kindermann and Deborah Ugoretz

What role do superstitions, and the symbols associated with and that express them, play in today’s Jewish worlds? How does one depict the Divine presence, or the presence of the Shekhina? What need is there for protection in the form of objects or amulets? How do we navigate the gap between scientific explanations and irrational, all too human fears?
How can the artist’s work struggle with the idea that we as rational human beings still search for the meaning of that which is incomprehensible and unpredictable?
